This food market traces back to 1877 and is still in full swing today. Visit the traders who sell locally produced artisan fare and exotic goods.
Local Galleries
Cork is a quirky, modern city with two amazing art galleries: the Crawford Art Gallery in the City Centre and the Glucksman Art Gallery in the lower grounds of University College Cork. Both of the wonderful galleries are free to enter but ask for donations.
Blarney Castle and Gardens
One of Ireland’s greatest treasures is located only 9 km from Hotel Isaacs. Is the perfect spot if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and experience all the glories of the Irish countryside. The Blarney Castle is a mere 15 minute drive from Hotel Isaac's (or alternatively take the 215 bus running on a half-hourly basis). Don't forget to kiss the Blarney Stone, the legendary stone of eloquence.
Distilleries & Breweries
I am a big fan of breweries so would highly recommend a visit to the Franciscan Well Brewery and Brew Pub for a unique experience in Cork City. The Brewery located on the site of an old Franciscan monastery and has been recognized as Ireland No.1 Brewery. The Jameson Distillery Midleton offers guided tours, educational whiskey tastings, bar and a merch shop. Visitors will experience a 75-minute tour, a short film, a tour of Distillery buildings and a complimentary glass of Jameson. Currently they are running a 'buy one, get one free' staycation offer on their official website.
Visit Cobh Town
Cobh town is just 25 minute drive from our boutique hotel (or a leisurely train journey of just 24 minutes with trains conveniently running on the hour). Cobh is a lively, colourful town with numerous restaurants and shops with friendly locals always ready to offer a warm welcome to its many visitors. It is also famed for having one of the largest natural harbours in the world. See Isaacs' blog about Cobh for ideas and recommendations.
